Silane Grafted Polyethylene Compound GP-SG-07/01 |
GP-SG-07/01 is a two-component system made up with grafting vinyl silane in low-density polyethylene and cross-linking catalyst master batch. SG-07/01 which should be mixed in the ratio 95.5. It is used in low voltage insulation and sheathing in power cables. Stored separately, these materials can be extruded as a normal thermoplastic. The finished cable is comparable with polyethylene cross-linked by other methods.
Technical Datasheet
Recommended Extrusion Conditions: Extruder: Thermoplastic extruders will process Gem Polytech Sioplas-Type compound with screw suitable for polyethylene extrusion. An extruder having L/D ratio 24:1 and compression ratio 2:5:1 is recommended.
Extrusion Temperature Conditions: As a guide the following temperature profile is recommended.
This profile may vary depending on extruder type, design and output.
Screw water temperature: 60ºC – 70ºC Screens: Stainless steel screens of 50-80 mesh per linear inch.
Head and Tool Design: The head and tools should be so designed to allow streamline flow avoiding stagnation of material. To obtain optimum physical properties in case of tubing tools, it is recommended that a draw down ratio not greater than 2.5 should be used in sector and round shaped conductor.
Cross-Linking or Cure: Curing can be done in the following ways:
- By immersion in hot water at 80-85ºC (For 6-8 hours but depends on thickness)
- By exposure to low pressure steam (about 0.15 bar) for 6-8 hours
Form and Packing: Pellets packed in moisture resistant multi layer sacks containing 25 kgs.
